RJRGLEANER GROUP MOURNS THE UNTIMELY DEATH OF ITS COLUMNIST AND COMMENTATOR MARTIN HENRY
Kingston. Wednesday May 29, 2019. The Boards of Directors, management and staff in the RJRGLEANER Communications Group mourn the sudden, shocking and untimely death of educator, Gleaner columnist and public affairs commentator on RJR and TVJ, Martin Henry, who died on Tuesday evening, a short while after completing a live television interview during Prime Time News.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of Martin, coming moments after he had again demonstrated his strong commitment to Jamaica by providing another instance of incisive analysis of a major development in Jamaica’s history, the significance of the life of former Prime Minister, Edward Seaga”, a statement from the Group said. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to Martin’s family, colleagues at the University of Technology and his close associates in our media Group”, the statement continued.
Group Chief Executive Officer, Gary Allen said “Martin has been committed to fair and balanced analysis of public affairs matters in his service to Jamaica and was one of those persons relied upon for many years to add credibility and clarity of such matters. His death is a significant loss to us and the country, he added.
Mr. Henry was consistently involved in the programme “That’s A Rap”, Beyond The Headlines, All Angles, Special Political Conference coverage, Elections Coverage and others.
The CEO expressed thanks to the staff members who gave assistance to Martin initially and those who rushed him to hospital saying that their pain, trauma and confusion over the devastating development are understandable at this time, indicating that the Group is proud of the tremendous efforts they made to assist him.
Martin Henry has been associated with the Group for over 15 years.
